The course will cover fundamentals of specific tax saving opportunities, including the R&D Tax Credit, 45L Tax Credit, Energy star and the 179D Deduction as it relates to Energy Efficient builders, developers and designers. Topics will include history, project qualification and quantification, and industry case studies. The Inflation Reduction Act brought changes to the 45L and 179D tax incentives and we will dive deep into how these legislatives changes will affect builders, developers and designers starting in 2023.

Gareth Young
Introducing Gareth Young, Manager of the Building Science Consulting practice at BRAYN Consulting. With over 20 years of experience in commercial and residential construction, Gareth brings a wealth of expertise and applies this to securing specialty tax incentives. Gareth is a Registered Professional Engineer in over 40 states as well as a RESENT® certified HERS® Rater and ENERGY STAR® certifier. Gareth also serves in the US Navy Reserve as an Engineering Duty Officer where he applies his civilian technical and program management skills to the maintenance of nuclear-powered submarines.
Alyssa Honnette
Alyssa Honnette is BRAYN's Director of Business Tax Services (BTS) and oversees the Operations Department of BRAYN professionals who implement the firm's R&D Credit, 174 Expense, Cost Segregation, Investment Tax Credit (ITC), and Employee Retention Credit (ERC) Services.
Alyssa's has 12 years' experience in R&E/R&D Tax Applications, having spent the most recent 7+ years in RSM McGladrey's Federal Credits & Incentives Group. For the last portion of Alyssa's RSM tenure, she oversaw the quality review process for all R&D Credit applications to the A/E/C Industry nationwide.
Alyssa earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) degree Rice University, and she is an IRS Enrolled Agent.
