    Leaders

    Kimberly Scott

Chief Executive Officer, Washington Society of CPAs

Kimberly Scott, CAE, brings over two decades of dedicated leadership to her role of President & CEO of the WSCPA, a position she has held since 2017. Her commitment to advancing the CPA profession is evident in her extensive advocacy work at both state and national levels.

Since joining the WSCPA in 2000, she has served in various senior leadership roles throughout the organization. From 2009 to 2022, she also served as Executive Director of the Washington CPA Foundation. In the role of WSCPA's Vice President of Government and Member Relations, Kimberly spearheaded the organization's advocacy efforts, successfully driving the drafting and passage of multiple bills through the Washington State legislature, including a bill that secured $3.3 million for the Washington CPA Foundation. The Foundation now provides over $500,000 in accounting scholarships annually.

Beyond her role at WSCPA, Kimberly is involved in shaping the future of the accounting profession. She currently serves on the AICPA National Pipeline Advisory Group and recently served on the AICPA Women's Initiatives Executive Committee.

A Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential holder, Kimberly is passionate about continuous learning. She has graduated from programs with Heroic Speaking, Leadership Eastside, and earned her certificate for DEI in the Workplace from the University of South Florida.

She has volunteered her time and expertise on various boards, including recently serving on the Washington Society for Association Excellence (WSAE) DEI Task Force, the Homeward Pet Board of Directors, and the Human Services Commission for her city.

    Susan Speirs

    CEO, Utah Association of CPAs

Susan Speirs has been the CEO of the UACPA since July 2013. Susan has always been involved with the business environment and the profession. She sits on the Federal Funds Commission for the state of Utah, and is a member of the board of directors for the Utah Council for Economic Education and the Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy in the State of Utah. She is the Chair of the Utah Financial Empowerment Coalition under the direction of Marlo Oaks, State Treasurer. She is also past president of the UACPA and AWSCPA.

Prior to coming to the UACPA, Susan had a practice that specialized in small businesses especially in the areas of construction and job costing and estimating for twenty-five years. Along with providing general accounting services for clients, the Company taught its clients what their financial situation meant on paper, how to read their balance sheet and income statement, how they relate to their current business, how the financing industry interprets the statements, what they as small business owners can do to improve margins, efficiencies, minimize tax liabilities and continue growth.

Susan enjoys playing with her husband, Steve, of thirty-three years, two children, and two grandchildren. As a family they enjoy snowmobiling, hiking, boating and music.

    Laura Lantz

Laura Lantz joined the Idaho Society of CPAs in June of 2017. After five years, she is still thrilled with her job and the impact it makes with CPAs, their clients, at the legislature and with students -  and she's even more inspired by the impact the Society can make into the future.

"Relationships are the key to everything, both personal and professional, so having a good core group of peers is essential," stated Lantz. Laura dedicates herself to fostering an environment at the Idaho Society of CPAs where professionals can network, learn, and engage with each other.

Laura is proud to be part of small, but mighty team of three at the CPA Society, where she serves as Executive Director. She oversees Society activities, Board of Directors issues, the Code of Ethics, regulatory & legislative issues, AICPA & coordination with other related organizations. She handles the new member recruitment and outreach, so student education is a big part of her duties.

Laura has a Journalism Radio-Television degree, with a marketing minor, so communication and working with people has always been her love, and luckily for her, she's made it her profession. Laura was just named as one of Idaho Business Review's 2022 Top 50 Women of the Year.
