ISCPA plays a key role in protecting the interests of CPAs throughout Idaho
ISCPA’s advocacy efforts address policy issues in Idaho and Washington D.C., as well as regulatory requirements from the Idaho State Board of Accountancy. ISCPA members — and all members of our profession — benefit from ISCPA’s efforts in seeking the most favorable laws and rules in place for the success of CPAs across all sectors.
ADVOCACY is one of the biggest benefits of an ISCPA Membership, and it’s often overlooked! The Idaho Society plays a key role in protecting the interests of CPAs throughout Idaho. We monitor both state and national legislative efforts, and advocate for Idaho CPAs. We’ve worked on important legislative efforts, including Pass-Through Entity State Tax Legislation, as well as Partnership Audit Legislation in Idaho.
Need help navigating Idaho State tax law? ISCPA is active in helping our Members be aware of, understand and also implement new Idaho tax changes. We work to simplify Idaho tax processes, to help our Members and their clients. We also connect Members with Tax Commission professionals to help solve problems before they escalate. Our advocacy efforts are at both the state and national level. We are watching out for your interests!
Have questions about the licensing or CPE reporting process with the Idaho State Board of Accountancy? The Idaho Society works closely with the State Board and monitors any issues or changes, whether at the state or national level, that could affect Idaho licensees. We attend the Idaho State Board meetings and advocate for our Members if by chance there are problems with any regulatory requirements.
Student Outreach – The Idaho Society has ramped up the student outreach in Idaho, trying to get the message out and inspire students to choose a career in accounting! We are connecting with high school and university students across the state. These grassroots efforts inspire students and can have a meaningful and measurable impact - and the Idaho Society is leading the Idaho effort.
CPA Pathways – ISCPA is focusing on modernizing the path to becoming a CPA in Idaho. In the 2026 legislative session, ISCPA will propose legislation to add an additional option to get licensed - a bachelor's degree, 2 years of experience, and passing the exam, alongside the current routes. ISCPA is proposing these changes to boost talent, improve mobility (individual-based practice privilege), and lower barriers, while maintaining the high standards that the CPA credential represents. Here’s a great resource for national efforts on CPA Pathways – Pathways to CPA Licensure.
